Interested in learning more about entrepreneurship? Looking to start a new venture? Look no further! Entrepreneurship 101 is a free, non-credit introductory course about entrepreneurship offered by MaRS. Over 30 weeks, Entrepreneurship 101 takes you through all the steps of building a successful business.

In this lecture, get a sense of the scope of the course and how it applies to your start-up. Future lecture topics include funding your business, marketing, recruiting, intellectual property and more.

Special lectures include:

  • • 'Lived It Lectures' feature celebrated entrepreneurs and their success stories and challenges. There is a 'Lived It Lecture' for each of MaRS' practices: ICE, Cleantech, Life Sciences and Social Innovation.


  • • 'Meet the Entrepreneurs' are panel sessions during which entrepreneurs from different sectors discuss the challenges and opportunities they face as they grow their businesses. These events have networking opportunities after the panel session for entrepreneurs in each sector.


This non-credit course is designed to introduce members of the research and academic community to issues relating to starting and growing a business. It is especially targeted to graduate students, post-docs, faculty, technicians and others active in research in a scientific or engineering discipline, those who have an interest in creating a company to exploit the results of their research as well as those interested in social innovation.
