Title : Application of IFRSs by Junior Mining Companies

Date : April 20th, 2011

Time: 12:30 PM ET

The mining industry has a significant impact on the Canadian economy both through the products offered and the jobs created in searching for, finding, developing and operating mines. The business of exploring and developing is often speculative. Numerous companies have been created to carry out mining exploration.

Financial reporting by junior mining companies is atypical in a number of areas. There are significant differences in characteristics between junior mining companies and other types of companies.

In recognition of the significant challenges faced by junior mining companies, the Guidance and Support Group of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) have jointly produced a series of brief publications which provide non-authoritative guidance to address IFRS application issues that are of particular relevance to junior mining companies. This series is available at www.cica.ca/ifrs/mining.

This webinar covers some of the issues addressed in this series.
