Title : PSAB Webcast: Measuring Financial Performance in Public Sector Financial Statements

Date : September 6th, 2012

Time: 12:30 PM ET

The Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) is in the process of reviewing the concepts underlying financial performance in its conceptual framework set out in the Public Sector Accounting (PSA) Handbook.

Consultation Paper 2, "Measuring Financial Performance in Public Sector Financial Statements," was issued by PSAB's Conceptual Framework Task Force (CFTF) in October 2012.  The paper uses the lens of public accountability to identify what should be reported in public sector financial statements.  Proposals are set out regarding the objective of public sector financial reporting, and who public sector entities are accountable to and for what. Alternatives for how those accountabilities might be demonstrated in financial statements are also provided.   Input on the proposals is requested by January 31, 2013.

Martha Jones Denning is the PSAB Principal working with the CFTF on the review of the framework. In this webcast, she will review Consultation Paper 2, explaining how the CFTF went about drafting the paper and its expectations for next steps.
