John S. Cochrane, CA, Adm.A., CMC
John Cochrane is one of the IFRS champions at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton (RCGT). In this role he works with clients and staff helping and guiding them with respect to the IFRS transition. He is a delegate partner with 33 years experience in auditing, accounting, internal controls and consulting. He is a member of RCGT’s certification team dealings with publicly-listed companies. For the past two years, he has organized RCGT’s annual accounting and tax seminars for mining exploration companies and he has overseen the preparation of a set of model financial statements for model exploration companies. He is a member of the CICA Mining Industry Task Force regarding application of IFRS to Canadian mining entities, where he has contributed principally to the sections related to exploration and evaluation assets and impairment of those assets.
 
  Lee Hodgkinson, CA
Qualifications: Chartered Accountant, Ontario, Member, Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Lee has served over thirty audit clients in the mining industry giving him experience in precious and base metals. Lee has presented technical papers at the PDAC annual conference in Toronto on topics including the emergence of the Alternative Investment Market as a Mining Finance Market, and Triple Bottom Line Reporting in the mining industry. Lee also represented KPMG on a FASB working group that is discussing accounting issues specifically related to the mining industry, including classification of mineral reserves, impairment testing and deferred stripping. He also has direct industry experience working as the Corporate Controller for Anvil Range Mining in 1995 and a secondment as mine site controller to Copper Range for Inmet Mining Corporation in 1996. His work with the KPMG Mining Practice has taken him to over 30 mining and metals sites on six continents. A partner in Ernst & Young’s Assurance Services practice, Blake is the Greater Toronto Area leader of Ernst & Young’s Mining & Metals industry group. With more than 15 years of experience providing audit and advisory services to many of Canada’s leading mining companies — including advising them on the transition to International Financial Reporting Standards — he has deep knowledge of the industry’s unique risks and accounting, auditing and reporting issues. Blake has been involved in numerous mining industry acquisitions and financings, and has experience with regulated documents and corporate transactions. For three years, he was a member of Ernst & Young’s Professional Practice group, where he provided technical accounting and regulatory advice to many of the firm’s clients.
 
  Janet Stockton, CA
Janet has over 25 years of experience with exposure to clients in a variety of industries, including real estate, manufacturing, wholesale and mining. As the firm’s Quality Control Partner for Public Company engagements, she is currently responsible for overseeing quality on public company audits. Janet provides advice on complex accounting, auditing and financial reporting matters for public companies including REITs and income trusts. She also assists in the development of technical accounting training and publications. Janet is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO),CICA’s Securities Regulatory Advisory Group, and the CICA’s Task Force on Audit Implications of IFRS Adoption.
