Janet is a partner in BDO Dunwoody LLP whose primary role is to provide practice leadership and promote audit quality for the audit of reporting issuers in the Firm. Janet provides consultation in complex accounting, auditing and financial reporting. She also provides audit technical consulting, and team development of technical accounting training and publications. Janet has over 25 years experience in the audit and accounting practice, with exposure to various levels of organizations and industries. She has the role of a Gatekeeper for foreign filers into Canada including the US and European countries, She received her CA Designation in Ontario, 1985. She is a Member of the CICA’s Emerging Issues Committee (2006 - Present), Member of CICA’s Securities Regulation Advisory Group (2005 - Present), Member of the OSC Financial Reporting Advisory Committee (2009 - Present), Chair of the CICA’s Audit Implications of Transition to IFRS Task Force (2008 - Present), developed an IFRS training course on behalf of the CICA and the Provincial Institutes entitled "IFRS - Survey of the Standards" (2008), Member of BDO’s Public Company Specialty Group, Appointed BDO’s Regional Accounting and Assurance Leader (2005 - Present), Former Member of the CICA’s Differential Reporting and Advisory Committee (2000 - 2005).

Gordon Heard is the Principal Advisor of The Finance Group, and is currently helping a number of Canadian companies with their IFRS transitions. In these discussions, Gordon will bring the perspective of a financial statement preparer and audit client. Gordon also works with the CICA, providing input on IFRS education and communication from the perspective of members in industry. The Finance Group publishes “IFRS in Canada” (www.IFRSinCanada.com), a newsletter providing practical updates on accounting standards for public and private companies. Gordon has 20 years of financial management and executive experience in organizations of varying sizes, and is a member of the Financial Executive International (Canada)’s Committee on Corporate Reporting.
