Mike Moretto – Manager of Corporate Finance, BCSC
Mike is a Manager in the Corporate Finance Division of the British Columbia Securities Commission. He leads a team that carries out various activities including conducting prospectus and continuous disclosure reviews of reporting issuers and addressing various policy issues. Mike is active on policy development and legislative initiatives involving financial reporting matters. Prior to his current role, Mike was the Associate Chief Accountant at the BCSC and going back even further – prior to joining the Commission he worked in public practice at one of the Big 4 accounting firms. Mike also holds a CPA designation and he received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

Jim has been a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada since 1986. He is a CPA (Illinois) and FCA (Ontario) and is one of the firm’s SEC Consulting Partners. Jim served as Technical Director of the International Accounting Standards Board in London from 1999 to 2002 and as Chief Accountant to the Ontario Securities Commission from 1994 to 1996. He has been involved in a number of major Ontario, Canadian, U.S. and International standards-setting, policy and other initiatives and activities and chaired the International Organization of Securities Commissions Accounting and Auditing Sub-committee. Jim is currently a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' (CICA) IFRS Discussion Group and the firm's Global Corporate Reporting Task Force. As an SEC Consulting Partner, Jim is part of the engagement team for a significant number of mining company clients. These range in size from very large to very small. He is also a member of PwC’s global IFRS Mining Industry group and participates in the PwC sponsored industry group which has provided input to the EITF on mining industry issues. Jim is a significant contributor to PwC’s Financial Reporting in the Mining Industry publication, a global publication on the application of IFRS to the mining industry.
