James Longwell is a lawyer, patent and trade mark agent in the Toronto and Waterloo Region offices. Jim is Gowlings’ National Practice Group leader for Patents and a member of the Gowlings Technology Industry Group and China Initiative.

Jim practises in all areas of IP law, particularly as it applies to computer and information technologies. He advises on IP strategy, including acquisition, protection, exploitation and enforcement issues. He is also involved in Canadian and foreign patent, trade mark and industrial design procurement, primarily preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to computer software, hardware, telecommunications, medical devices, housewares and business methods

Konrad Sechley is a principal patent agent in Gowlings' Vancouver office and a vice chair of Gowlings' Life Science Industry Group. His practice focuses on patent protection in the biotechnological, agricultural, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors in Canada, U.S. and abroad. He works with a full range of clients including government, university and hospital research labs, start-up and mid-sized biotech companies, and pharmaceutical and multinational corporations. Konrad is a registered Patent Agent in Canada and the United States and a qualified Canadian Patent Examiner.



 

Jennifer Wilkie is a partner in Gowlings' Ottawa office, practising in the area of intellectual property, with emphasis on patent litigation and particularly pharmaceutical litigation. Her practice also involves providing advice on pharmaceutical regulatory matters.

Jennifer has been a registered patent agent since 2000 and prosecutes patents in the chemical subject area. She has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada as well as the Ontario Courts.
