  • David Pamenter
  • David is the national leader of the Firm's Technology Industry Group and a coordinator of the Cleantech practice. David has more than 30 years of experience in technology law, business and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance issues and private corporate finance.

    David is co-chair of the International Trade Subcommittee of the International Business Law Committee and chair of the International Transactions Committee of the Mid-Market Committee, Business Law Section, American Bar Association.

  • Jack Yong
  • Jack is a partner practising corporate and commercial law. He is co-chair of both Gowlings' China Initiative and its Technology Industry Group in Vancouver.

    Jack has experience in broad aspects of corporate reorganizations, business acquisitions and dispositions, financing, partnerships and joint ventures, with a particular emphasis on the technology sector. He has helped many foreign companies and investors establish businesses, invest, acquire assets and enter other types of commercial transactions in Canada. Jack is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese.

  • Clark Roberts
  • Clark is the chief representative of the Beijing Representative Office of Gowlings International Inc. Clark serves as Gowlings' local liaison for clients and prospective clients in China who are interested or engaged in cross-border trade, investment, and other Canada-China business opportunities.

    Clark's practice focuses on a broad range of corporate transactions and regulatory compliance matters particularly in the areas of mining, oil and gas, and intellectual property. He advises Canadian and international clients on a diverse range of matters including acquisitions and divestitures, resource development issues and government regulatory affairs.

  • James Longwell
  • Jim is a lawyer, patent and trade mark agent in the Toronto and Waterloo Region offices and is Gowlings' National Practice Group leader for Patents.

    He practises in all areas of IP law, particularly as it applies to computer and information technologies. He advises start-up companies, small businesses, universities and large corporations on IP strategy, including acquisition, protection, exploitation and enforcement issues. He is also involved in Canadian and foreign patent, trade mark and industrial design procurement.

    In addition to IP law, Jim provides strategic analysis and advice to business owners and investors for commercial transactions, financing, joint ventures, technology procurement, development and commercialization transactions.
