  • Christopher is a member of the Firm's Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group. Chris has expertise in patent, PM(NOC), trade-mark, copyright and trade secret litigation as well as expertise in computer anti-piracy litigation.

  • James Longwell
  • Jim is a lawyer, patent and trade mark agent in the Toronto and Waterloo Region offices and is Gowlings' National Practice Group leader for Patents.

    He practises in all areas of IP law, particularly as it applies to computer and information technologies. He advises start-up companies, small businesses, universities and large corporations on IP strategy, including acquisition, protection, exploitation and enforcement issues. He is also involved in Canadian and foreign patent, trade mark and industrial design procurement.

    In addition to IP law, Jim provides strategic analysis and advice to business owners and investors for commercial transactions, financing, joint ventures, technology procurement, development and commercialization transactions.

  • Grant Tisdall
  • Grant is a patent agent in the Toronto and Waterloo Region offices and is a Toronto leader of the Firm's Technology Industry Group and a member of the Firm's Clean Technology and Financial Services Industry Groups. Grant is registered with both the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He advises his clients on the strategic global aspects of intellectual property and assists in coordination of their R&D activities through building and managing of intellectual property portfolios for their first/next generation technologies. He guides technology companies in developing customized innovation programs that best formalize their intellectual assets in alignment with their business direction.

  • Peter Milne
  • Peter is a lawyer, patent agent and trade mark agent. His practice extends principally into the patent and trade mark prosecution areas and includes related matters such as industrial designs, copyright, trade secrets and confidential information, technology transfer and licensing and opinion work relating to the foregoing. Peter is a fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC). He is also a member of various professional organizations dealing with intellectual property including the International Trademark Association (INTA), the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI).
